This article was published in the July 2007 issue of International Journal of Systematic Theology (www.blackwell-synergy.com). 

 This piece is essentially a distillation of the heart of my criticisms of Gunton in relationship to Gunton's understanding of Augustine (i.e., a distillation of my dissertation).  I am very appreciate of the work of Colin Gunton, although I do suggest in the article that there may be a better way of reading Augustine than the one espoused by Gunton.
